Matías Hernán Sala was born on april 18th 1990 in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He started playing drums at the age of 13, studying with master Marcelo Frezia (from the important Argentine Insititute: "EMPA").
At age 15 he formed his first projects in music, performing in several local bars and clubs with a punk band called "Bajo Control".
Given his great admiration for drummers such as Ingo Switzemberg, Jorg Michael, Aquiles Priester and Mike Portnoy; Matias began studying with Walter Ariel Baum (writer of books "Doble Bombo: Una forma de expresion" and "Mensajes en clave") to master his pedals technique.
In 2007 he was summoned by a band called "Insight", with which he later recorded their first EP, also facing the work of producer and recording technician. In that time span he was hired as a sessionist by Arthois to play on a very important show, in which the band was opening for "Mago de Oz". After that presentation, Matias became stable member of the band and several large-scale concerts were performed with very important bands in the Argentine heavy metal scene, including: Almafuerte, Logos, Horcas, Tren Loco, Lethal, and Imperio.
Also after the launch of Insight´s EP in 2009 entitled "Ageless", several shows came up, opening for international bands like Stratovarius, Angra and Gamma Ray.
As a result of all this hard work, in October 2009 Matias signs contract as official endorser of Soultone cymbals, which are used by brilliant artists like Nick Menza and Jonathan Moffett.
In late 2009, Matias records Arthoi´s second EP "Del Mundo Tu Mundo" which is then released in mid-2010.
In March 2010 he was awarded by "Steelfaces" magazine as the best drummer. At the end of that same year he graduated at the institute "T.A.M.A.B.A." as a sound production technician; having obtained a scholarship during his final year in honor to his qualifications.
2011 begins formidably with the participation of Arthois in the "Cosquin Rock" one of the greatest Argentine rock festivals (participation to be repeated in 2012). At midyear he performed several shows as a session drummer for a band called "Masquera" and recorded their first EP. In August he played an important show as session drummer for "Augurio" in Palermo Groove.
In 2012 he was summoned by Diego Davidson to join a staff of teachers to dictate several clinics as a "DrumCamp" including one in Santiago Del Estero. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_z_UDEFGkg)
By the end of the same year he graduated from the College of Music "Manuel de Falla" as an Artistic and Technical Professional with application in Percussion.
He also carries out various shows as a session drummer for a band called "Vesthigios de un Final".
In 2013 he becomes percussionist for the institutional Orchestra of the "Manuel de Falla" college, playing Piazzolla, Gilardo Gillardi, Beethoven repertoire among many others; making his first steps as a symphonic percussionist in the orchestra.
During the first week of 2014 Arthois released his first LP recorded at "La Nave de Oseberg" and "MHS Studies" by Martin Toledo and Matias Sala, getting very good reviews from the media. By April of the same year he was summoned by "Cronicas del Mercenario" band for a major tour at Bolivia, which ends up with five concerts and a clinic in a week. Back in Buenos Aires, Matias begins to focus their studies in the Jazz genre, taking classes with Eloy Michelini and Pepi Taveira; he also continues to work with various bands and the orchestra, playing at important and diverse venues such as "El Teatro de Flores" or "La Facultad de Medicina; and assiduously dictating clinics.
During 2015 "Cronicas del Mercenario" recorded his first live DVD (soon to be published).
Later Matias is elected by "Magnos" (the band of singer Javier Barrozo - Walter Giardino Temple, former Lorhien -) as its new drummer; band that is considered being one of the largest of its genre in the country.
Currently he is studying a grade career at the "Manuel de Falla" Musical College, and also specializing in Drums - Jazz at the Popular Music Conservatory of Avellaneda. He is producing new records for the bands: "Cronicas del Mercenario" "Cinnamun Beloved" and "Magnos". He also works as a sound technician profesor at "Tamaba" Tertiary Studies Institute and at his home studio: "MHS".
